Yeah, it’s sentimental, one of those corny feelgood moments (with kind of a clunky caption), but I’m still glad it happened, and that someone photographed it and someone else stuck it up on the news caption affiliate of the well known LOLcat site.
I’m not sure if this constitutes proof of hope for mankind, but every little bit of common decency helps, especially when you think how exhausted the poor bastards must be who have been fighting fires around Melbourne for days on end.
If you’re a drop-in here, or not a regular at Gullybogan’s blog, edify yourself with hisĀ remarkable posts from downwind of the Australian bushfires.
I’d say “treat yourself,” because I am a fan of the way this gentleman turns a phrase and follows a thought, but it’s too sober a subject matter for a phrase like that.

You can buy copies of the original photograph to help raise funds for the bushfire victims. Our patients donated $280.00 in one afternoon so we’ll have koalas on every floor of the building soon
Outstanding; is there a link I can go to/post where it’s being sold?
Sure….

I ordered one. The picture’s being used on US websites that are collecting donations, but they’re not actually selling prints here yet that I know of, and I know someone who isn’t online and will be bowled over to get it as a gift.
There is also a US donation link just to help injured animals in the fire zone

“herartless” human?
That is certainly a heart-tugger of a photo, and I’m glad to hear it’s helping to raise donations.
(a “this is for sledpress” aside – I took a couple of photos for you in Tangier )
I’m a little boggled — which photos did you have in mind? They’re all hearteningly suggestive of warmer weather.
Mama Sled, by the way, has been travel-phobic since her English romance (a sordid story) and is weirded out that you and Pip just up and did that. Gaah! I’d be under the bed!
